We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website.
What do the maximum levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.
The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.
For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.
So, if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

COMMENTS: A crisp, bright, fresh grapefruit. Lovely when you don't want a floral grapefruit. For me, this faded to almost nothing in CP soap at 6 weeks (used at 5% of my oils, soaped at room temperature), but it positively shines in HP soap and in lotion. So nice to have a true grapefruit option. Advantages: Crisp, refreshing scent.
Disadvantages: For me, it faded to almost nothing in CP soap. Shines in HP, though!

COMMENTS: I can not stress enough how Sea Island Grapefruit is very much like being at the beach, sand dunes, lemongrass & lantana flowers on the levee, gulf waters. High tide marsh wet lands. It fits the Southern Louisiana to a T. Advantages: Behaved well, Holds scent months later in CP. No Problems At All.

COMMENTS: Combined this with Havana Nights for a tropical mix. Had zero problems soaping with this. I had time to do a beautiful swirl. Scent holds great, no ricing, no acceleration.

COMMENTS: This is a gorgeous refreshing scent!! Touch of grapefruit scent through soft mist of the ocean waves! It's SO refreshing and lovely! Advantages: You will want to just keep smelling it! :) Everyone that smells it loves it! Disadvantages: None that I have encountered!

COMMENTS: I looked far and wide for a good grapefruit scent. So many out there smell like chemicals and this is the real and juicy smelling deal. The fragrance opens up beautifully when the candle burns. Love it!
