All About IFRA

We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website.

What do the maximum levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.

The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.

For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.

So, if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

"One of my favorites all year!"
COMMENTS:  I am absolutely in love with this oil! I am melting it now. I'm a bakery lover so this is right up my alley. I can smell all of the notes in it and I don't get a bitter top note at all as two other reviews stated.I guess different noses smell different things but I think it's a wonderful scent. Please keep this one!

"my favorite!!!!!"
COMMENTS:  I LOVE this fragrance oil! I can smell every single note in it. I make soy, coconut-paraffin candles and coco-paraffin wax melts. This fragrance is nice and strong in my candles and [email protected] 11% FO load in coco-para. & 12% FO in soy. The fragrance fills my front room and kitchen! I noticed the other reviews they mentioned a kind of weird smell, I think it smells like part of the ginger mix and when I burn my candles and melts I DONT detect that weird smell at all. I makes the house smell WONDERFUL!!! It gets plenty of compliments and is a nice holidays fragrance or year round if your like me! :)

"I thought I really loved ..."
COMMENTS:  I thought I really loved this when I received the sample and I purchased a whole pound (as from my previous review). As the other reviewer mentioned, there’s a super sharp, bitter almost citrus note that I though would extricate itself when cured but no such luck. It would be perfect without that weird note for sure. Advantages: As always, RC oils are exceptionally strong and blend beautifully. Disadvantages: The funky top note.

"Very intriguing blend. W..."
COMMENTS:  Very intriguing blend. We like the blend with the exception of one of the top notes. There is a bitters like top note that distracts from the rest of the other notes. Hoping that note would mellow in wax, we made a test candle with it. The FO in wax stayed true to OOB smell. The bitters note was still present. That being said, it is a very nice blend and when it burns, smells quite nice (no bitter notes). Just unsure if people will pull the trigger on it due to the sharp top note. Throws like a boss in soy. Advantages: Super Strong Hot Throw. Disadvantages: Bitter top note that detracts from it's loveliness.
