We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website.
What do the maximum levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.
The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.
For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.
So, if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

COMMENTS: This smelled wonderful but the second it touched my batter it riced like something I have never seen. It wasn't little bits - it was like a huge ball and it couldn't blend it out. I thought I might have done something weird with the batter - added too much or too little of something than usual - so I tried again a couple weeks later, and got the same result. Maybe it's my recipe or soaping temp (I soap at room temp) since I only saw one other person who experienced ricing. I'd be willing to try it again if someone requested it. Advantages: GREAT scent! Disadvantages: Weird ball-like ricing that would not stick blend out.

COMMENTS: Bummer! Ive heard people raving about this scent for years so I finally decided to make monkey soaps for my grands for Valentine's Day and scent them with Monkey Farts. Brilliant idea!
I used a hybrid soap recipe ( where you allow the heat of the lye to melt the hard oils) which I have used many times before. When I got to light trace, I split my batch and put Monkey Farts in half and a different scent in the other half and put them into molds.
As i let them cure, I have beautifully scented and asthetically pleasing soaps for my daughters a pitifully brown splotchy monkeys for my grands, NOT!
Guess I will be showering with Monkey Farts for the rest of the year Advantages: Great scent, but I certainly hope that the chemist can fix the color issue! Disadvantages: MAJOR discoloration issue

COMMENTS: I like the smell, and feel like it super fun! It reminds me of being a kid, with the graham cracker and bubblegum fragrance pulling through. I soaped with it for the first time today. (CP) Unfortunately, it immediately accelerated my batter and caused massive separation. I had to throw my batter into a pot, heat it up and then use it as a HP batter. It's possible that I got false trace, and that was the culprit to my issues. I'll update this review once I soap with it again, and let everyone know my experience then. Hopefully, it was just because of false trace, because I think it's a super fun scent to market as a childs product.
As a side note: It reminds me of the Britney Spears perfume Circus, but maybe that's just me! Advantages: It's a fun scent, and I think it would sell well as a child's scent, or with a fun design. Disadvantages: In CP soap it caused acceleration and separation.

COMMENTS: It smells GREAT! Unfortunately immediately upon adding this to a portion of my batter in CP soap (I reserved some to put color in with no FO) it was like thick orange banana pudding. I am SO disappointed! I have super thick batter and nice fluid batter in the same mold, made it nearly impossible to swirl and finish the soap. COMMENTS: I had high hopes for this based on the reviews. Turning dark in CP didn't bother me; I like the color. However the scent changed to a weird playdough like scent. Kids might get a kick out of that. It smells great in lotions and bath salts though. If you use it in soap, you might want to go the glycerin route as the scent morphs into something strange in CP. I will still buy it again, but I won't use it in CP ever again. Advantages: Easy to work with in CP.
I personally like the dark reddish brown color it turns in CP. Disadvantages: Scent changes in CP and smells nothing like it does out of the bottle. Literally think playdough!
