Directions: All About IFRA
We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website.
What do the maximum levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.
The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.
For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.
So, if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

COMMENTS: I love the way this smells so much like real peaches. Have been using this for a few years in lotions, M&P soap, and wax tarts. Finally used it in CP soap and omg it separated and riced so badly!! I had read the reviews and saw a couple people say that it riced but I really didn't think it was going to act this badly. The saving grace, however, was that you can work through it through this stage. I stick blended for a while then let it rest. I did this several times and it settled well. I did hold some back for the top of the soap. When I added TD there it went again. I am pretty sure more seasoned soapers would know this happens with TD, but I did not. (I have only been soaping since 2013). Anyway that batter eventually settled down, but it was very, very thin. Advantages: It smells so much like fresh peaches. It is wonderfully fresh and has no vanilla. You can work through the separation and ricing of your CP soap. Disadvantages: It will take about 4 times as long to make your CP soap. It causes your batter to separate and rice horribly. Plan on stick blending and resting several times over just to get the batter to behave.

"After 12 years of soap ma..."
COMMENTS: After 12 years of soap making I never had a batch separate until I used this fo. Loved the scent but hated I wasted so many ingredients! I used a tried and true goat milk recipe I'd been using for years but this fo didn't behave well at all. Advantages: Great scent. Disadvantages: Causes cp soap to rice and separate back into water/oils.

"This truly does smell lik..."
COMMENTS: This truly does smell like a fresh peach. As soon as I opened the bottle, I couldn't stop sniffing it. It's on the more mild end in cold process soap, so this is one you might want to use a little more than stronger fragrances. In my body butter it smells amazing! Advantages: Smells just like a real peach! Disadvantages: A bit mild in cp soap.

"I can't tell you how many..."
COMMENTS: I can't tell you how many different body sprays, lotions, etc. I've tried in search of that "true peach" smell. All of them miss the mark and are only mildly reminiscent of peaches (they generally just smell like sweet fruit).
I recently tried searching for fragrance oils to attempt to make my own body spray, and all of those peach scents missed the mark as well (even the ones that had reviews praising how peachy they were).
I was beginning to suspect that the scent just can't be replicated, until I tried this fragrance oil! It truly smells like fresh, juicy white peaches. 100% true to smell, finally!

"If you in need of a real ..."
COMMENTS: If you in need of a real fresh peach fragrance, then you need to look no further. This fragrance smells just like the real thing. Every time I make it in a bath bomb, it's the first to sell out. Advantages: Smell awesome, and the fragrance has sticking power, also nice and strong in both bath bombs and cp soap. No discoloration, or fragrance morphing. Disadvantages: I did experience really bad ricing about 10 minutes after adding it to my cold process soap, but no worries, if you let the soap rest for about 15 minutes, the ricing stirs out and returns to its fluid state.
