Directions: All About IFRA
We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website.
What do the maximum levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.
The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.
For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.
So, if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

COMMENTS: This blend is a perfect christmas scent! I added falling leaves to it and created an incredible christmas candle. I'm very picky with christmas scents, and I cant stand the ones with too much evergreen or spice and this one is a great balanced blend. Everyone loved our christmas candle!

"I tried this out in a col..."
COMMENTS: I tried this out in a cold process batch this year and cannot stop just breathing it in as much as my lungs will hold! It's a refreshingly Christmasy scent of snow-covered pine branches, berries tart yet subtly sweet and new-fallen snow. I love this scent. It did not accelerate or discolor my batch. Advantages: Refreshing and likely a winner all year 'round. Disadvantages: You won't know how to do without it once you've experienced it.

"This scent is the epitome..."
COMMENTS: This scent is the epitome of Christmas. I smell the pine right off. However, for me, it reminds me of a popular hair grease from back in the 80s. I used in CP soap. It does tint the soap orange right away. This fades after a few minutes. It also riced my red colored soap. It does accelerate trace, almost to the point of seizing. I was too ambitious as I was attempting a spin swirl with 4 colors. Epic fail!! Advantages: Smells good. It would be great in a candle. Disadvantages: Accelerates trace, possible ricing.

"Love the scent, but decid..."
COMMENTS: Love the scent, but decided to throw the batch away. FO turned red when added to my oils. It accelerated so quickly that I guess it did not disperse well. As the soap cures it has red dots and is also discoloring to an odd shade of pinkish tan. I should have HP instead of CP this batch. Advantages: Scent is wonderful Disadvantages: Discolored and accelerated in CP
