All About IFRA

We have IFRA on all fragrance oils and flavor oils on our website.

What do the maximum levels mean? Let's use Almond Paradise as an example. The IFRA guidelines on this state that there are no restrictions for soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. So does that mean you can use 100% in your product? No. That would mean your product consists of straight fragrance oil.

The IFRA states the *max* that can be used, not the recommended amount. It is the responsibility of the maker to do their research to see what the recommended usage rate of fragrance oil for their particular recipe is.

For soap, as a general rule of thumb you will use up to 5% of fragrance oil in Cold Process (CP) soap and up to 3% in Melt and Pour (M&P) soap.

So, if you see a fragrance oil and the IFRA says 23% for soap, don't use 23%. IFRA is important when it comes to lower numbers. There are a few fragrance oils that have max usage rates that are less than the percentages shown above. In that case, you can only use the max shown for the oil.

"Smells Just Like Home Interiors Baked Apple Pie"
COMMENTS:  I sold Home Interiors until they went out of business. I searched for years for a Baked Apple that smelled like their candle. This fragrance from Rustic is what got me started making melts. It really does smell like the Home Interiors Baked Apple Pie. Whenever I make melts in this, it is an immediate sell out. Peoples eyes light up and they say 'Ooohh yeah, it does smell like it'. I have put multiple Baked Apple melts side by side and this one is always the one picked. Please never stop selling this fragrance!

"I sold HI for over 20 yrs..."
COMMENTS:  I sold HI for over 20 yrs with this scent being my all time favorite that I bought over & over! When they switched to Celebrating Home I decided not to stay with them but had been making my own candles for several years trying to duplicate HI Baked Apple Pie. I ran across KY Wax's website by accident one day so decided to give this fragrance oil a try. I can say without a doubt that this fragrance oil is SPOT ON like another review says it is! If you want a true HI Baked Apple Pie this one is it! Advantages: Hot/cold throw is EXCELLENT in GB 415 wax....any soy wax I have used this has been great in! Disadvantages: I would say just a little on the high side but in the end well worth it for the spot on fragrance you are getting that you can't get from any other supplier!

"I have used many apple pi..."
COMMENTS:  I have used many apple pie/apple strudel/baked apple fragrance oils and this one is my very favorite. Probably because back in the day the Home Interiors Baked Apple candle was my favorite candle, and Rustic Escentual's Baked Apple FO smells just how I remember HI's did. Advantages: Strong hot throw in soy Disadvantages: Costs more than apple pie FOs from other suppliers, but worth it.

"I have many different bak..."
COMMENTS:  I have many different baked apple oils in my shop. Customers come back after this one time and time again. I sold Home Interiors for 15 years and this one is a spot on duplication of their baked apple pie candle. It performs well in candles and tarts. Advantages: Strong throw hot and cold, performs well in para soy, all soy blends and golden soy 464 Disadvantages: It's a little pricy but worth it
