Directions & Ingredients
International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI):
Aqua, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sorbitol, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrasodium EDTA.

Start with a minimum of 2 lbs. of product cut up in a mixing bowl. (Less than 2 pounds will not work as there is not enough volume around the beaters.) Foaming Bath Butter can be processed in different ways, but we prefer whipping it with a double bladed electric mixer.

As it is whipped, the volume slowly increases. We suggest whipping it until the volume of the butter has doubled. Over-whipping to 3 - 4 times its volume will cause the Foaming Bath Butter to collapse.

As you begin to whip the butter, you can add additional ingredients. You must add your ingredients BEFORE you finish whipping the product or it will collapse. You must also whip not less than 2 pounds per batch, as there must be enough butter to fill the mixing bowl.

We suggest not using a single blade mixer - you must use a double beater type mixer as the more air that's incorporated, the fluffier the mixture will be. You cannot add any ingredients after the mixture has set up or it will collapse.

Try adding the following:
  • Carrier Oils: - adding up to 2 ounces (60 ml) of a carrier oil (such as Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil or Grape Seed Oil) per pound of base has made the Foaming Bath Butter more moisturizing, particularly on products being applied to the face.

  • Sugar/Salt: Sugar or Dead Sea Salt can be added until the product becomes super-saturated. Once the sugar or salt stops melting, it will remain in crystal form and act as a wonderful exfoliant. You can also add Jojoba Meal as an exfoliant.

  • Fragrance Oil: The Foaming Bath Butter will accept a fragrance load of up to 5% fragrance oil or essential oil. Typical applications are best with a load of 2% to 3%.

  • Other Butters and Bases: Try adding Shea Butter, Mango Butter or Cocoa Butter. The Foaming Bath Butter will also accept small amounts of other creams, lotions, and moisturizers.

  • Jojoba Beads: we found that by adding Jojoba Beads to uncolored, whipped Foaming Bath Butter, we were able to produce a visually appealing product which had the consistency of icing with dots of color in it.

  • Experimenting is half the fun! Using it and selling it is the other half!

"Hello! I have three questions. I'm wanting to use the Foaming Bath Butter Base ( Paraben Free) for my business. 1. Do I have to add an additional preservative to the end product? 2. Is there a way I could have a estimate of the percentages used so that I can properly list the ingredients, along with the additional ingredients I add to the formulation? 3. What is the shelf life of this product? I hope to hear from you soon! Thanks, Sha'pri"

"Just got to using the bas..."
COMMENTS:  Just got to using the base I ordered in December and all 2lb packages are grainy, tried heating to melt down, but became grainy again when whipped, heated the oil I added to 120 and that didn't help. Usually love this product but now have several pounds of whipped soap that is too grainy to gift or sell Advantages: Typically easy to use Disadvantages: Expensive, but usually worth it

COMMENTS:  I also love this product. The 10 pound tub is an excellent value. I have added almond oil or rice bran oil but you don't have to add anything as this product really is ready to use (after whipping) as is! Advantages: Timesaver! Have also used the product for cupcake frosting and as the base for salt scrub and I plan to keep the base in stock.

COMMENTS:  I have purchased this item a couple times. I have used this as an "icing" on my soapy cupcakes and a fragrant frosting soap... Advantages: I absolutely love this product. I have had no problems with it holding color or scent. Never had a "soap smell" undertone.! Best value for your money. All of my customers love it! Disadvantages: I have had no problems except that I can never keep this in stock!

COMMENTS:  I make both a shaving cream and a sugar scrub from this base. I have been quite happy with it. It holds up well in both applications. I find I do need to add a little more scent to this base than others, but that really didn't bother me. Advantages: Easy to use, multiple applications, lovely lather Disadvantages: Need to use a little more fragrance to mask it's 'soap' smell
